The Sheepfold and the Voice of the Shepherd

Stone sheepfold John 10:22-30 Recently my boys have been spending a great deal of time outside in the area that will soon be transformed into our garden. They spend endless hours digging in the dirt for worms. They then promptly take those worms and throw them to the chickens. It amazes me how even chickens can learn to recognize sounds or voices. My oldest makes this funny high-pitched sound when he comes out of the house and heads toward the coop. The chickens practically fall over themselves running toward the fence or out of the coop when they hear him making his sound. They know there is food to follow! In Sunday's Gospel Jesus tells us that, "My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me." and "I am the gate for the sheep." Today, again, Jesus mentions that His sheep know His voice and follow Him.  In these few verses we learn that Jesus is both gate and shepherd for the sheep. Smiling and Swinging

Catherine loves her swing! She got to breastfeed twice today and did really well and they should be giving her a bottle tonight. She has not been spitting up at all. She has not gained any weight since Saturday so they increased the calories in the breastmilk. We think the reason she was gaining weight better last week was because she had help from the nutrition she was getting in her PICC, but she is no longer on that. Please pray for weight gain for little Catherine. They do everything in grams and kilograms, so she should be gaining about 20 grams/day (28 grams is about an ounce). Right now she weighs 2890 grams, which is about 6# 6oz. As soon as she starts gaining weight consistently she can come home!!! Thank you for your prayers, as we pray for all of you!

Someday, when she's like 16, you'll look back and think out loud, "Did we worry and wonder about her so much when she was just a wee thing?" You'll be on the eve of her learning to drive, of her first date, of her wedding, of her major milestones, and you'll see the miracle of prayers at work and the great gift God has given you in being a witness to the blessing of children.
