John 6:30-35 If I wasn't in the same boat as these sinners following Jesus I would probably be laughing right in their face. I often wonder how Jesus kept from rolling on the grass laughing at what some people do. Today we hear the crowd ask Him, "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do?..." Is this not the same crowd who in verse 2 we are told - "followed him, because they saw the signs he was performing on the sick ."? Are these not the same people who in verse 14 " when they saw the sign he had done, they said, "This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world."? Yet still they seek a sign. However, they are not seeking a sign so that they might believe, they are wanting to be fed. Jesus worked a "sign" with the loaves and the fishes and now they want Him to do it again. Wisely, Jesus is using their bellies to get to their hearts; He is using earthly things to move them,
I know it's been awhile since I gave a formal update...I have been tired, and nauseated, which means we are expecting #6 for those of you who don't already know. We are due at the end of March sometime and we are very excited!
Catherine has been doing very well. She is sitting much better for a few minutes at a time without assistance. She is clapping her hands. She is getting up on her knees and elbows and rocking and even trying for a few seconds at a time to push up on her hands! This is all very exciting to watch and I know that crawling is in her future! She is making some new "sounds". Not the ones that typically appear after ooo, and ahhh, but she is saying ha, and also making this nasal sound like a hard g or something (sorry not a speech therapist!). The really good thing about these sounds is not really the sounds themselves but that she is beginning to mimic us when we make those sounds back to her as you can see in the video. She is learning that that when she does something, we do something back. Doesn't sound very big but it's important for her to learn that she can control her enviroment.
She is still vomitting at night 1-2 times, so her GI doctor put her on a low dose of erythromycin (an antibiotic) that will hopefully help her stomach to empty a little quicker. She has been on it a few days and it's too soon to tell if this is working yet. It sounds like Dr. C has one more drug up his sleeve before we talk about a GJ tube again.
She also recently had a kidney ultrasound that showed her right kidney was more swollen than normal. Since this same ultrasound did not show the kidney stone that she previously had, the doctor assumed that the swelling was due to her passing this stone, but just in case it was caused by something else he ordered a renal nuclear medicine scan. They injected radioactive dye into her veins and watched how her kidneys processed the dye. It showed that there are no obstructions and she has good renal function, which is of course what we wanted to hear. So she will continue to be monitored every few months with renal unltrsounds.
