The Sheepfold and the Voice of the Shepherd

Stone sheepfold John 10:22-30 Recently my boys have been spending a great deal of time outside in the area that will soon be transformed into our garden. They spend endless hours digging in the dirt for worms. They then promptly take those worms and throw them to the chickens. It amazes me how even chickens can learn to recognize sounds or voices. My oldest makes this funny high-pitched sound when he comes out of the house and heads toward the coop. The chickens practically fall over themselves running toward the fence or out of the coop when they hear him making his sound. They know there is food to follow! In Sunday's Gospel Jesus tells us that, "My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me." and "I am the gate for the sheep." Today, again, Jesus mentions that His sheep know His voice and follow Him.  In these few verses we learn that Jesus is both gate and shepherd for the sheep. Progress!

Catherine made some progress today. It might not seem like a big deal, but to us and to Catherine it is! Her physical therapist recommended that I take Catherine's socks off and bring her feet to her hands. She says it is very important developmentally that she know where her feet are. This will help her with rolling, crawling, and eventually walking. It's also good for gaining strength in her abdomen which is weak. So I have been doing this. I would bring her feet up and she would grab them but was not able to hold on to them very long and she would not bring them up herself.

But today, after I helped her play with her feet, she started bringing them up herself and holding on to them for awhile! She even tried to put them in her mouth, which I reminded her wasn't very ladylike.

Taking a break

On Thursday, Catherine will be 11 months old!

Baby tricks -- very good! Her eyes are looking better, too, I think. I can't remember if my Joshua's eyes looked better right away -- seems to me it might have taken a little while.
