The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. The mad Artist wields His brush, before the quiet autumn hush. More poetry is available from James M. Hahn in  The Last Dragon and Other Poems  available now. Jesse Tree Day 7

Scripture Genesis 37:3-5, 8a, 18-19, 23, 28

Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons, for he was the child of his old age; and he had made him a long tunic. When his brothers saw that their father loved him best of all his sons, they hated him so much that they would not even greet him. Once Joseph had a dream, which he told to his brothers..."Are you really going to make yourself king over us?" his brothers asked him. "Or impose your rule on us?"

They noticed him from a distance, and before he came up to them, they plotted to kill him. They said to one another: "Here comes that master dreamer!...So when Joseph came up to them, they stripped him of the long tunic he had on...They sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. Some Midianite traders passed by, and they pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and took him to Egypt.

Meditation - What will happen when God's awaited promise arrives? What will happen to this Lamb that we are awaiting? Look at Joseph. Stripped by his brothers and sold for the price of a slave.

Resolution - I will make a good Confession this Advent.
