A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). What are you asking for?

Mark 10:32-45

I tell you now
so you may believe
when terrible things happen
and all of you flee.

Blind rulers will condemn
Non-believers mock and kill
spittle, scourging, suffering
ending on a hill.

Sons of thunder
not seeing as He sees
for places of power
enter their pleas.

Can you drink the cup
to the dregs of suffering?
Or be baptised in your blood
make your life an offering?

Fill the chalice to the brim
that baptism we wish to see
we are able, we are able
cry the sons of Zebedee

What you ask you know not
nor is it mine to give
the seating in the Kingdom
shall be based on this

To be the master
become the slave
lose all that you have
in order to save

The greatest, the least
power to those who serve
lordship to the servant
a whisper makes the mountain move

The humble lifted high
the proud brought low
seek to serve the least
and in my love you will grow.
