Do You Love Me?

I read today's Gospel through tears of joy. I was profoundly touched by the conversation between Jesus and Peter. I was moved to tears by the gentleness and compassion Jesus shows to Peter, and to us if we but ask.  The gregarious, outspoken disciple is finally humbled by the Lord and recognizes, maybe for the first time, that Jesus truly loves him, trusts him, forgives, and forgets all of Peter's failings and weaknesses. This passage is moving but we would do well to first read the entire 21st Chapter of John, a mere 25 verses to really understand how the relationship between these two men has moved to an entirely different level. John brings his Gospel to a close by taking us back to the very beginning of the relationship. Back then, Peter was out fishing all night, catching nothing, before his first encounter with the Lord. Here too, Peter, who is at this point confused, wrestling with emotions of hope and guilt, joy and sorrow, is out fishing all night catching nothing. Ag

The garden is nearing the end. Here is a picture of the jalapeno peppers I picked, about peck of those jalapeno peppers.
One of my all time favorite snacks is parched corn. If you are unfamiliar with parched corn, it is dried sweet corn cooked over low heat. I put a dab of oil in the iron skillet and spread it around and then wiped it out with a paper towel. I threw in the corn, almost enough to cover the bottom of the skillet and cooked slowly, stirring often, over low/med heat. Try this with a mug of warm apple cider with a cinnamon stick floating in it and you've got yourself a treat!

Here is a shot of the homestead taken in July. Below it is a picture taken a couple days ago. The goldenrod is out in full force.

Speaking of goldenrod, the bees are out in full force gathering this last burst of summer to jam into their hives. As you walk on the path from the house to the mailbox the humming sound of these busy workers is amazing. Unfortunately, much of the goldenrod falls onto the path because of the weight of the flowers and no other support to help the plants. Therefore, those unthinking souls who venture to get the mail in sandals through the gauntlet of buzzing goldenrod are bound to get stung. As did I. Ouch.

#2 had a birthday a week ago. Hard to believe 5 years can pass so fast. Of course the cheap sword and pirate hat bought by # 3 at the dollar store for, well, a dollar, beat out all other gifts. In the second picture I think he either had too much cake or is trying out for the next Pirates movie. Arrrrghh..........

#4 is here looking cute as can be. I should probably send this picture to other big Buckeye fan!

"Yeah, I'm finally going to be a big brother!"

"Hey! Wait a minute! That means......."
