A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left u

Fred the Snowman

Last year we made a snowman and named him Ned. This year, with an early snow last week, we made snowman and named him Fred. I know, the boys aren't real creative with the names. They save all the good names for the new baby..... Here are some pictures of the creation of Fred, the brother of Ned the snowman.

# 2 and # 3 sitting on the base of Fred. It was all that I could do to get this big chunk of snow remotely close to the house.

Here # 1 places his head where Fred's head should be but is # 1 that tall at 6 years-old?

Nope. The board he is standing on was my last attempt to get the mid-section on the base. I couldn't pick the mid-section up or roll it up onto the base. I placed a sturdy piece of lumber upon the base and slid the mid-section up to the top of the base. It took two tries and I don't believe I can have any more children.....although my wife, watching from the window, was very impressed I could tell. She was also thankful for not having to call 911.

#2 & #3 wanted to sit on top before we finished Fred.
