A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? Extreme Coop Makeover

Okay, well, it's not extreme, just some old fashioned, southeastern Ohio chicken coop remodeling. We have about 40 chicks coming on Friday so I thought I should build some sort of brooder to raise them. I didn't want them in the basement again because of the dust. I decided to section off part of our coop and put them in there. So, here are some pictures of the transition and transformation. Of course I'll be posting pictures of the chicks by the end of the week.

Here we see the nesting boxes (with a fresh egg on the left) and roosts.

The remodeling crew putting the finishing touches on the "wall" in the basement of the house.

I moved the nesting boxes to the right (bottom right) and removed half of the roosts since we only have nine chickens now.

The "wall". Lattice at the top with poultry wire at the bottom. The space on the right is for the door that is in production.
