A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left u

Novena In Honor of Blessed Maragaret of Castello

About four years ago I discovered a little shrine in St. Patrick's Church in Columbus, OH. This church is pastored by the Dominicans and this shrine is to Blessed Margaret of Castello. I began praying to Blessed Margaret for a family friend dealing with cancer. I prayed daily for the intercession of Blessed Margaret and after Mass on Wednesday's participated in the veneration of her relics. The friend was healed.

Of course in this difficult time for our family it is hard for us to discern what we should be praying for. Should we be praying for a complete healing for our little Catherine Therese? What if that isn't God's will? Should we simply be praying that God's will be done? What if God wants us to ask Him for healing? It is a struggle so I pray for both - healing and His Holy Will.

So, I would like to ask you all to join me in praying for baby Catherine through the intercession of Blessed Margaret of Costello. This is especially important since yesterday we were told that she is dropping off the growth chart - meaning she is not growing as she should be. If this continues they will need to take her early. Everything else appears healthy and we are happy about that.

Please take the time and read about the life of Blessed Margaret and why she is so special. Please pray the novena with me in asking for healing and also for grace for Catherine Therese and our family - April 5th - 13th.

I'm in on the novena, and I'll try and get people in on it through my blog and through email.

Thanks so much Sarah. These prayers, at the very least, help us keep a sense of peace during this time. The more people storming Heaven on Catherine's behalf the better. If anyone wants a paper copy of the novena I "borrowed" from St. Patrick's Church, I'd be happy to mail it to them! Thanks again, and God Bless!
