The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. The mad Artist wields His brush, before the quiet autumn hush. More poetry is available from James M. Hahn in  The Last Dragon and Other Poems  available now. Day 6

It is hard to believe that last Thursday I was getting ready to drive Nicole to the hospital for preparations for the delivery on Friday. It seems like two months ago not merely a week ago.

Today was a good day for me. I stayed at the house last night and slept in my bed for the first time since last Thursday night. This morning I took all four boys to a kids event in town - kidpalooza. It was sponsored by many of the civic organizations and business in town. They had a great time and got lots of stuff - stickers, books, a kite, etc.

Today was an especially good day for Catherine and for Nicole and me. Catherine was taken off the oscillating ventilator and placed on a regular ventilator and she likes it much better. She looks wonderful - color, skin tone, not nearly as bloated. She was moving a great deal when we were there and even trying to open her eyes.

They dropped her blood pressure medicine some more and she is doing well with that. They also moved her head a bit and she looks much better. She doesn't look as flat-headed or puffy now. She is so cute!

We also spoke with the genetic doctor today to discuss with her if there were any problems. One of our concerns was Trisomy 21 or Down's Syndrome which is often associated with duodenal atresia. Since the atresia was not there, there was no concern for Down's but they did the testing anyway. There is a slight variation in one of her genes and they are doing further testing to tell if it will be an issue. One doctor indicated that there are probably thousands of people walking around with this same genetic indicator and they don't even know it. Anyway, we are going to be waiting for those results to come back within the next week.

I am on watch tonight and will head over there in a little while to see Catherine, talk to her and stroke her little head of hair. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Please continue to pray as I know you will. Thanks for caring and for reading.

May God Bless you all!!!
