A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left u

Catherine's Surgery

The hospital called Thursday morning to tell us that the surgery was scheduled for noon. We arrived at the hospital at about 11:30. Poor little Catherine was a bit fussy from not having any food for about 36 hours. We took turns holding her until they finally called for her at a little after 1:00 PM.

We escorted her to the OR and stayed with her until they took her back for surgery at 2:20 PM.

The hour long surgery took about 2 hours because of scar tissue and a little bit of trouble getting the J-tube into her intestines because of the previous surgery. Everything went well and Catherine was back in her own room recovering by about 5:30.

When we left her they were working on giving her the pain medication and starting a fresh IV.

I believe the plan today is to let her recover from the surgery, manage the pain, and possibly begin some feeding through the tube. Everyone there seems pretty positive that if all goes well Catherine should be coming home soon, within a couple weeks. We pray this is so!

Thanks for all of your prayers!
