A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left u

Day 12

Catherine had a good day today. In fact, she ate the most she's ever eaten in a day. And it was all about the popcorn. She had some veggie sticks this morning and then a little popcorn. Then she usually gets an ounce of her formula with some water, but we decided to hold that to see what she would do at the next appointment. She got a little fussy towards the end of that time, but was in a relatively good mood.

At the next appointment she ate 10 or so pieces of popcorn in the high chair, trying some with chocolate pudding and avocado puree on them, but definitely preferring the plain ones. She also put a small piece of string cheese in her mouth and moved it around quite a bit before getting frustrated that it wasn't breaking apart like the popcorn does. She eventually spit it out and we put her down on the floor. She was still pretty fussy on the floor, refusing all food and pulling at her bib. I took her bib off and turned around to put it away. When I turned back around she had dumped some popcorn out of the bag and had put two whole pieces in her mouth! She spit those out pretty quickly, recognizing they were too big (smart girl!). She continued to eat the popcorn eating a total of more than 25 pieces for the morning. Also while on the floor, Karen had a cup with milk that we were dipping Catherine's pacifier in and letting her taste it. She had several tastes and even dipped her pacifier in herself once.

After her nap this afternoon, she had a few pieces of popcorn. She also had a few pieces at supper. Around an hour or hour and a half after supper, she was fussy so I offered her more popcorn and she ate, and ate, and ate for at least 30 minutes. Well, she had a small break when I had to go pop some more! I didn't count how many small pieces she had, but I would safely guess at least 50. She finally slowed down and said "all done"! She seemed to be in a better mood after this. I think she might be finally starting to feel what happens when her belly gets full. We aren't too concerned about nutrition at this point. She needs to eat for pleasure right now and as she begins to eat more and different things, we'll try more healthy choices. Karen was telling me how one little girl began eating bacon and cheese, and that's all she would eat!

So, we will continue for a few more days here and hopefully we will see some more progress! Thanks for your prayers and birthday wishes for Catherine!

Yippee! It all sounds so good! It is AMAZING that she is eating such a technically difficult food as popcorn! WOW!!! What a great treat for a lovely 3 year old! ;)

Keep up the good work Catherine and Mommy!
