The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. The mad Artist wields His brush, before the quiet autumn hush. More poetry is available from James M. Hahn in  The Last Dragon and Other Poems  available now. Good Friday Free Kindle Book

Today's Free Kindle book is Meditations on the Crucifix:They Shall Look Upon Him Whom They Have Pierced.  You'll never look at a crucifix the same again. These meditations are deep, rich and bring the reader powerful insights into this common Catholic sacramental. The reader will grow in their love for this wonderful image and learn to meditate more deeply on Our Lord's Passion.
Originally published in 2004, this book has become a Lenten favorite.  Also available for Kindle.
Why I wrote this:  Sometimes I write with a purpose and other times I write for writing's sake.  During Lent of 2003 I decided to make a Holy Hour everyday spending time in Eucharistic adoration.  Behind the monstrance in the Adoration Chapel was a very beautiful and vivid crucifix.  Each visit I would focus on different aspects of the crucifix.  I would contemplate not only the wounds of Christ but every part I could imagine: His hands, knees, feet, the writing of Pilate and more.  This little book is the fruit of that Lenten Meditation.
It was first published by a local printer and my wife and I spent evenings in the basement stapling the booklet together.  Now on it's 3rd printing, this beautifully bound meditation will stick with you for years to come.
