The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. The mad Artist wields His brush, before the quiet autumn hush. More poetry is available from James M. Hahn in  The Last Dragon and Other Poems  available now. Meditations on the Crucifix, a great way to start your Lent!

Eighteen years ago for Lent I took it upon myself to spend an hour in adoration everyday of Lent (YES even Sundays - it's a feast day and what better way to feast!).

The fruit of that time was
1) being with Jesus for over 40 hours and
2) a little meditation book on the crucifix

In our adoration chapel there was a beautiful carved crucifix on the wall above and behind the monstrance. So, for those 40 + hours I meditated on the crucifix and talked about it to Jesus.

Each visit I would focus on different aspects of the crucifix.  I would contemplate not only the wounds of Christ but every part I could imagine: His hands, knees, feet, the writing of Pilate and more.  This little book is the fruit of that Lenten Meditation.

It was first published by a local printer and my wife and I spent evenings in the basement stapling the booklet together.  Now on it's 3rd printing, this beautifully bound meditation will stick with you for years to come.  I guarantee you'll never be able to look at the Crucifix in the same way again.

I have 5 extra copies of this meditation book that I would like to give away to hopefully, in some small way, assist you during this upcoming Lent.

So, if you would like to be a lucky winner of one of five copies please send me an email.  The first 5 people to email me will be rewarded for actually reading this blog post with their very own copy.

Email me at hahnjamesm@gmail.com. Please put "Crucifix" in the subject line.  I'll email you back asking for your mailing address or letting you know they've all been claimed. Thanks and may God bless your Lent.

If you don't win you can still get your own copy from Amazon here in either a paperback or Kindle format.

Here are some other great Lenten reading suggestions for this year!
