A Temple of the Holy Spirit

Daniel & Catherine ready for Confirmation I had the privilege of witnessing my son and daughter receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Lancaster, OH. It was a wonderful Mass with a full choir, trumpets, and all the rest. During his remarks, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes mentioned that we too, like the Basilica, are temples of the Lord. It caused me to reflect on this idea. Although I've mostly seen only pictures of the great cathedrals and basilicas in the world, I have seen some amazing churches even in our own diocese. These structures are a testament to the Church's love for God (read the entire Church - Militant, Suffering, Triumphant). They represent great skill, sacrifice, and passion for Our Lord and often times His Mother.  Yet the words of Christ always echo in my mind when contemplating the beauty that surrounds me in those places; “ Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left u

Saturday Photo Finish (5/23/20)

The quarantine continues and so does the rain here in Ohio.  Friday was the first time we had seen the sun since we don't know how long.  Things are slowly moving back toward normal.  Many people say the "new normal" I hope and pray it's not the case.  Many of the ideas and directions make sense but too many of them leave me scratching my head.  By the looks of my noggin, I must do that a lot!  Here's my photo finish for this fun week of rain, quarantine, and using the time to work around the house.  Enjoy...

Saturday (5/16) began with a trip to urgent care.  B had been bitten by a tick about a week ago and we noticed a rash beginning by the bite area.  To be safe we took her in.  She was placed on antibiotics and it cleared up.
She got a mask and teddy bear out of the deal!

B with his new ( to him) truck already up and working on it.
A great night for hot-dogs and s'mores.

Nothing like spending an evening around the fire with friends.

Nothing like friends who pass on their old power wheels!!!

Social distancing went out the window.

Saturday evening we had friends over for a cookout and for the kids to play.  It was the first time we had seen them (in person) since the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.  It was great to catch up and be around other humans!!

Uncle Bill trying to get D to fry up some frog legs.
Sunday we were blessed to have Fr. (Uncle) Bill come for a visit and to enjoy coffee, cake, and ice cream with grandma and grandpa.  We stayed outside on the patio with the bugs and frogs.

Kitchen back splash before...

Kitchen back splash after.
We (Nicole) decided the area behind the stove needed a makeover so I spent the better part of a day installing this nice stone back splash.  I think it turned out well.

While I was installing the back splash she was busy taping and painting the upstairs hallway and stairwell.  After fifteen years and 6 boys running up and down these stairs and hallway it was time for some fresh paint.  Add to that an upcoming visit from family and it seemed like the perfect time.  (Left photo not OSHA approved)

In addition to the other projects we decided the utility room could use a makeover as well.  I spent the day removing the hangers and boot bench to get ready for paint.  Since I had to pull the washer and dryer out anyway, I thought I'd give the dryer a good cleaning....

If you have boys, your dryer is bound to collect some items like bb's, pellets, and airsoft bb's.  I also found 3 small allen wrenches.  I'm not sure how they made it out of pockets and through those little holes in the dryer but the did.

B and B riding their vehicles out to check the asparagus patch.

B drove around most of the day with this plastic turkey decoy in the passenger seat.  Not sure why but it was cute.

I ended the day Friday enjoying the nice weather on the deck with Evening Prayer, a whiskey sour, and a CI Legend from Alec Bradley while reading Flee to the Fields

A perfect sunset to end the week.  See you next week!!  Thanks for reading....
