The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. Jesus Calls Matthew - Poem

Laughter fills the customs house,
Coins and merry mingle-jingle,
A bit for you, a bit for me,
The rest on to the king-ring.

Labor on the shore is hard,
The fields are hot-rot,
No calloused hands here,
Only calloused heart-start.

Matthew and his friends collect,
Taxes and more-score,
Friends abound around,
And money buys them more-poor.

Parties every night,
Work with bleary eyes-tries,
Wine, women, song and sin,
The best of life there is-miss.

One approaches coin in hand,
His look strikes the heart-part,
Levi looks in disbelief,
His heart no longer clinging-singing.

To this One he'll now cling,
His new life intertwined-fined,
Leave the counter's table,
Take up the angel's quill-distill.

All saints, a sinner's past,
Oh death where art thou sting-fling,
All saints a founded hope,
On Jesus Christ the King-sing!
