The Seasons: A Poem

Sunrise over Amazing Grasses Family Farm The mad Artist wields His brush, Painted colors rush, To life and give flush, Before the quiet autumn hush. The life seems to pour, As colors fall to the floor, To be seen no more, Outside the dark, grey door. Brightness from below, Sun upon the snow, High, cold clouds blow, Flakes and ice appear to grow. The man melts with little seen, Underneath, pale, grey green, Hides life in dark unseen, Waits for warmth and to careen. Buds on branches show, Patience starts to grow, Trickles, streams and veins flow, Bringing fruits of melted snow. Sprung to life it springs, Bees, birds, sound rings, Lush green flings, Its gift bounty brings. Green growth gives one last rush, Underneath the Painter's brush. The mad Artist wields His brush, before the quiet autumn hush. More poetry is available from James M. Hahn in  The Last Dragon and Other Poems  available now. Some Resources for Strengthening Your Marriage

I am no marriage expert by any stretch of the imagination. If you doubt that statement, please consult my wife and/or your doctor.

However, over the past 22 (23 years in August), I've learned a thing or two, and of course being a hopeless writer, I've written about much of it here on this blog. So, in honor of the observances both of National Marriage Week (February 7-14th) and St. Valentine's Day (Tuesday February 14th, yes, this coming Tuesday; gentlemen, you are welcome) I thought I would post links to the various marriage pieces I have written in the past with a brief description for each. This will allow you to decide to read what might be close to your heart at this moment.

In no particular order, here are some of my favorite posts on Marriage:

Our Life with a Saint - Part 4 - I do: This is actually part of a book I am working on, maybe more of a memoire, of our life with our daughter Catherine. I love this post because it really gets to the heart of what I said "I do" to all those years ago.

Marriage: A Pilgrimage within The Pilgrimage: In this post I share how marriage itself is a journey within the journey towards Heaven. I also share how our own marriage and relationship has been evolving, most especially over the past year, and what has helped us on our pilgrimage.

How I fell in love with my wife - again: There are ebbs and flows in every human relationship. There are times when Nicole and I work, laugh, and love together like a well oiled machine. There are times when truly wonder if we are in fact from different planets. In this post I share an easy practice that helped us grow closer together and communicate better.

Natural Family Planning (NFP) from my Perspective: Although this post isn't strictly about marriage, NFP has played a big part in our marriage and so this is my perspective. It covers how I learned about it, what I love about it, and of course, what I hate about it.

Bonus

Here are some books that have deeply influenced our married life over the years and have help us through some trying times. I won't go into details for each one but maybe if a title speaks to you, check it out.

Three to Get Married - Venerable Fulton J. Sheen
